...return the cardboard sleeves that 6-packs of beer and other beverages come in to

your neighborhood

convenience

store or other retailer. They can re-use them. This allows

them to buy beer and other beverages with less packaging from the distributors - thereby

doubling your recycling efforts. Don't forget to say no when they ask you if you want a

plastic bag for your purchase!

ALUMINUM CANS

...Save those cans! Donate them to a homeless shelter, a needy school,

animal rescue organization,

Boy scouts

Girl scouts

or other worthy organization. They can

be turned into cash to support any variety of programs.

MEDICINE BOTTLES

...So many of us and/or our animals are on

maintenance

medication.

All those pills come in PLASTIC bottles! They are labeled #5 for recycling purposes -

Jacksonville city only recycles items labeled #'s 1 and 2. So ask your pharmacy about their

re-cycling program. I inquired at Wal-Mart and the pharmacist said they absolutely do have a

recycling program. I bring back my bottles to my vet for refills of Izzy's maintaince meds.

to store small screws, sewing pins, loose buttons, etc.
